New Morocco Blog, New Morocco-Inspired Song = Sheer Happiness
During one of my browsing sessions, I happened upon Raioo.com, “Where Moroccans & Friends of Morocco click.” They have blogs there, and the one that caught my attention is written by Hudhud (I love that bird, btw). Her entry from June 4th linked to a great song that totally blew all my conceptions about European/African hip-hop out of the water. (Specifically, that I thought it was insipid and annoying) Here’s what she had to say -

The video really touched me, especially the part where you see “under Mama’s feet” written on the wall. This has a special meaning to Moroccans, as my husband explained - sort of like having respect for your mother, taking care of her, and being taken care of in return.
