I’ve been tagged by Maryam in Marrakech, so here goes the PG-rated version of “9 Weird Things About Me:”
-
1. I’m an INTP according to Myers-Briggs and Keirsey, which is very rare – less than 1% of the population.
2. I can eat any kind of potato except mashed potatoes, I detest them. I think some kind of mysterious chemical change occurs in the potato when it’s mashed.
3. When I was 18, I went to London and ended up living in a squat for a month with six guys from Northern Ireland. They treated me like a sister, perverts, I told you this was a PG version!
4. I used to write feature articles for a national motorsports magazine.
5. I once worked for a homeopathic physician, and I still take lycopodium or other homeopathic meds occasionally. The only prescription medication I’ll use is Maxalt for my migranes, and I haven’t had one in ages, knock on wood.
6. I once had a past life reading, and I was told that I was a French Jew whose entire family – including myself – was sent to camps and executed. Supposedly that’s where my fear of losing my family comes from.
7. I once almost drowned in the swimming pool at summer horse camp, because I was stupid and thought I was old enough to go in the deep end if I wanted. I went down twice, and was about to go down for the last time, and the counselor on duty finally spotted me. I can swim really well now.
8. I sometimes say things before they happen. For example, a former boyfriend and I were looking through a local restaurant guide, trying to decide where to eat. He suggested a place, and I said, “Oh, we can’t go there, it burned down.” Two weeks later, there was an article in the paper about a restaurant burning down- the very one he had suggested. No, I didn’t commit arson, and there had never been a fire in the restaurant before.
9. I have entire conversations with animals, whether my own or ones I meet. I’m sure the nomads in Morocco thought I was completely wacko for having a chat with their dogs.
Whew, that was hard! Now you all now how weird I am, and I was trying to preserve an air of elegance and coolness, so much for that.
I’m supposed to tag 9 people, but that’s too much pressure. However, if Cat In Rabat would like to list how weird she is, it would be interesting.

Wow, Liosliath, that is so intense about the past life reading. I want one of those. Where can I get one? I am also absolutely fascinated by your arson story. Have there been other incidents like that?

Ha ha Cat, I can’t wait!
Maryam – I got mine here in Columbus, if you can believe it, many years ago. She also told me that I wouldn’t marry my current fiancee, but instead a tall dark haired man who was “very worldly.” I’m looking at Hamou right now and trying to decide if he’s worldly!
The fire incident was the most dramatic one, but little stuff like that happens all the time. From talking to other people, I’m starting to believe it’s not as uncommon as I thought!

sorry for comment-spam, I understand you haven’t tag me but I felt free to “claim” you tagged me as I saw “9 things…” first here, also I haven’t tag anyone, as I think everyone should do it without invitation

I certainly don’t mind at all, and I enjoyed reading your list!

I’m the same about mashed potatoes!! Love all other types, but mashed (while I don’t hate them) are loathsome (unless they’re dressed up with cheese or spices or gravy – mmmmmmm, gravy…)
