Possibly the Coolest Trip Ever

07 Dec

Take a minute and visit Paula at Constant Trek – in 2004-5, she walked from London to the border of Mauritania. This year, she’s walking through Mauritania, Mali, Niger, Chad, Libya and Egypt. Here’s a bit from her latest blog entry:

“Firstly, I have just had a great two weeks, through 400km of the most dramatic, remote (and difficult) desert terrain I have ever seen. I am here in Tidjikja (if you find it difficult to say don’t worry – I still have to think about the spelling, and I’ve been walking to it for a fortnight) for three days, solely for communication purposes – but I have to admit that I am grateful for the chance to recuperate a little before the next push to ‘Aayoun el Atrouss, 500km away. And when I get there – I am two thirds of the way to Tombuctou!”

There is nothing like a dream to create the future. – Victor Hugo

07 Dec

Today I’m in a good mood, and I hesitate to say why exactly, because :

    - I’m shy
    - I don’t like to talk about certain things here (Hi Mom!)
    - It has nothing to do with Morocco

I’ll throw caution and good sense to the wind and say…I had a the most fantastic dream last night. It involved myself and …. [drum roll] Colin Firth. May I just say, Colin Firth should really do more nude scenes in his movies*, because his fans are really missing out on a fine specimen of manhood.

Colin

You can also see why one of the insulting nicknames for me in middle school (besides the normal “Too Tall,” “Green Giant,” etc…) was “Kewpie Doll.”

My husband doesn’t read this blog, but we’ve actually talked about these kind of dreams before – he was positively shocked – “Women have them too?!” He tried to tell me the cutest little fib, that all of HIS dreams were about me. Love him for that.

*Though I don’t know if Colin’s done any at ALL – pity.

Bad Mood

I have several things I want to write about, but I feel like it’s an “S” kind of day : sleepy, sad, and slow. So, for your listening pleasure, are a few of my favorite songs under the listing of “S” in my music library. I warn you, I have weird taste in music.
