What’s In a Name? – Shakespeare

09 Dec

Ever heard of the Kabalarians? Sort of odd folks, but they have one of the largest databases of names (774,331 and counting) in the world. If your name is on the list, you can get a free report on what kind of strengths and weaknesses are associated with it.

It’s sort of like astrology, in that one is predisposed to pick out the parts of the analysis that they agree with, and discard the rest – but mine was pretty much spot on, weaknesses and all. Actually, particularly the weaknesses.

* Although the name Liosliath creates an interest in the deeper aspects of life, we emphasize that it causes a superior, interfering expression whose favorite expression is “I know.” This name, when combined with the last name, can frustrate happiness, contentment, and success, as well as cause health weaknesses in the heart, lungs, bronchial area, worry, and mental tension.

[This is totally me - I have to remind myself to shut up once in a while, because no one cares if I know the entire history of the conflict in Chechnya - especially when they're just idly discussing a story they heard on NPR.]

* The name of Liosliath has given you good business ability and a high regard for proper standards of conduct. [Yep]

* You have an appreciation for good music, literature, art, drama, and philosophy, and you could be creative in those fields.
[Still working on this, but I've dabbled in all of them.]

* An outdoor life also appeals to you and you could find much enjoyment in the beauties of nature.
[Absolutely.]

* In the business world, your reserve and outward placidity command respect for your authority.
[You will respect my authoritei! - Cartman]

* However, in your personal life, this reserve and reticence are often mistaken for coldness and lack of feeling, with the result that others find it difficult to understand you.
[This is not my fault - though it does throw the naturally gregarious Moroccans for a loop!]

You know how I love this kind of thing, Liosliath. But Eek. Don’t think I should be too encouraged by “success is limited at times, by a lack of self-confidence and initiative.” It seems I need some of your authoritative ways…. and more of the “I know” factor;-)

Hm – those of us who read your blog would probably interpret it as “Luckily, Maryam has occasional bouts of self-doubt, which is fortunate – otherwise we’d all be under “Maryam Rule” by now!”

    ;)

Very nice analysis, my real name is Jamal, and this is what I got:

The name of Jamal gives you the desire to meet and mix socially and to create congenial circumstances for everyone. However, all too often, you express yourself in a matter-of-fact or awkward way that results in your good intentions being misunderstood. If you are in sales work, you could do well because of your friendly personality, interest in people, and desire to please. You prefer situations that allow a degree of independence, but are not too demanding in work-load or responsibility.

It sort of reminds of the “Wizard of Earthsea”, by Ursula K. Le Guin where knowing someone or something’s real name gave you power over that person. I don’t want to go on about this book, but if you read it you will know what I mean.

Jamal – Did you think your analysis was accurate? I read Wizards of Earthsea many times, but I actually prefer Tombs of Atuan. We need another analysis test – ie. which LeGuin novel do you like best, and this is what your personality is, based on that!

The analysis is fun to do, but it is sort of neutral just like Horoscopes, you can read any sign and you will still find something relevant about you.

I liked the whole Earthsea series and read each one more than once, a lot of Earthsea got ripped off and used in Harry Potter set in the present day sort of. Talking about Scifi books, did you get to read the Dune books? a lot of it got “borrowed” from Arab desert culture also.

I did the test and it gave me this :)

Your first name of Kenza has given you a responsible, expressive, inspirational, and friendly personality. Expression comes naturally to you and you are rarely at a loss for words; in fact, you have to put forth effort at times to curb an over-active tongue. Self-confidence has made it easy for you to meet people and you are well-liked for your spontaneous, happy ways. You sincerely like people and do not often experience loneliness; your work and home-life are likely filled with association.

It is true especially the part about the efforts I have to make to curb my tongue :) )) it is become a joke between me and my friends… one of them once said that my tongue has a life of itself and that it is no more listening to me :) )))

Thanks for that test (I love thoses) it is very funny
