Zidane, Un Portrait du 21e Siècle (Ohaibuk Zizou!)

17 Feb

Zidane

Tonight, H and I went to the Wexner Center for the Arts, where Zidane: A 21st Century Portrait was playing.

In April, 2005, video artists Douglas Gordon and Philippe Parreno went a step further, training 17 cameras on Zidane for the length of a single La Liga game. The cameras were scattered all over the stadium, and recorded images ranging from intimate close-ups to beautiful long shots that take in the whole pitch; from unfocused collections of colors to more traditional, television-style action shots. Zidane: A 21st Century Portrait is the 90-minute compilation of those images and, for lovers of the game, it’s awe-inspiring. More an art film that a sports documentary, Zidane is something that must be experienced on the big screen.

I’ve activated a plugin that allows commenters to subscribe to the post they just commented on – it will send you email notifications when someone makes a new comment.

I did this because I hate going back to other people’s blogs to see if there are any comments after or in response to mine – it makes me look like a stalker in their stats programs!

Aïn Sebaa

I have a reader from Aïn Sebaa, and I love the name of that town. “Eye of the Lion,” how cool is that? I have so many memories of coming through on the train and listening for to the announcements. “Casa Port, Ain Sebaa, Mohammedia, Bouznika, Skhirat,Temara Plage, Agdal, Rabat Ville!!!”

ANA Abd-el-Donkey

08 Feb

I want everyone to please note that the donkey is now :

1. Present.
2. Has some grass to eat. (though I don’t know why he wouldn’t like some nice tomato soup, Byron)

Next you’ll have me drawing him a little stable or something, maybe with a pillow.

NOTE : I mean that I am the slave of the donkey. It’s not supposed to refer to Allah – but, if God is in everything, is he not in a donkey, too?
