Cooking Moroccan
Does anyone watch a show on American TV called “The Class?” Here’s a description from tonight’s show:
“The Class Eats Moroccan Chicken
Season 1, Episode 17
Originally Aired: February 05, 2007
Lina and Richie host a dinner party, but her exotic dish leaves her friends forcing down inedible chicken to avoid hurting her feelings.”
Hmph. Moroccan cuisine isn’t for amateurs.
That stinks. I would have loved to have seen her whip up something delicious to encourage more people to at least try Moroccan food.
Sounds like a bunch of idiots – how difficult could it be to roast some chicken with vegetables? One of the many reasons that I want to go back soon is to learn to cook all those wonderful vegetables. Mmmmm aubergine.
It ain’t rocket science.
I am sorry you must be insulted by our media. Please be aware that as an American, I am insulted by it as well. And I love Moroccan food. I have eaten dishes that I had no idea of content from road-side vendors in the High Atlas Mountains, and loved everyone of them. All we can say, “The Class” has no class!
One caveat on my earlier “roasting chicken is easy” comment. Pastilla may be more difficult to make than other chicken dishes. I mean is it an appetizer, main dish or dessert? Whatever it may be, it is delish!
Our media makes Americans out to be really ignorant – about other cultures and even about cooking!
