Hamou had some interesting comments about the recent attack in Marrakech.
Me: [Reading] “He has previously received hospital treatment in the central town of Fez for mental problems, a police source said here.”
Hamou: They always say that. They don’t want anyone to know he was a perfectly normal Islamist – not Muslim – who had a hatred for tourists.
Me: Well, he was crazy, though.
Hamou: If he was crazy, he would have been out attacking Moroccans in the Djmaa el Fna, or maybe his own father…he knew what he was doing.
I found this bit confusing – “The King of Morocco, who was staying at the same hotel, had offered help with staff and interpreters, the PSA spokesman said.”
Er, the King speaks English. He’d hardly need interpreters.
