yes, you are always amazing Ibn Kafka.
i did not mean to correct you but that whole area is very confusing to me.
the domination of Egypt over the embryo UAR was welcome at first by everyone on the region that was the first plan but it did not seem to have pleased friends who were working on the other nation states. Saudi Ar. and Gordan.
the fall of the Libyan regime before Qaddafi is very interesting phenomenon at a time when other monarchies were being made or solidified and what did that have to do with the failure of UAR is interesting to explore.
Pan-arabism is still inspiring a huge amount of political choices out there, even today. ( maybe it is just embedded in the language but it is a powerful embedding)
@Mtime, mabrok new look. . tanemirt.

In fact, as you point out, I'm half wrong technically, since the UAR theoretically had a dual "command", even if Egypt's outrageous domination over Syria finally led to that union's demise within 3 years...

@Ibn Kafka. thank you for your comment.
i always learn smth from you.
Yes, you are right.there is a different kind of Hizb Al Baath in Egypt but it was not as powerful as in Syria and Iraq. "the United Arab Republic" (1958-59 to 1961) happened b/w Egypt and Syria. Gaddafi tried to unify with Syria later but that failed again.
The core of the Baath ideology is "the resurrection of the Arabs Nation" from a long time of "hibernation". . "Arabs" is the key word. Kurds and Imazighen were lost in the folds.. and still.
thank you again Ibn Kafka.

Just wanted to point out that Egypt has never had a baathist régime - I'm not even sure there's ever been a baathist party in Egypt. They've had a nasserist régime, not quite the same thing, more akin to the FLN in Algeria.
