OK, I know I’m going to be horrendously busy with school, but this sounds awesome -
“Friday’s line-up will be headlined by Bryan Ferry and Felix Buxton of Basement Jaxx, whilst Saturday will see the likes of Gilles Peterson and The Egg perform under the African stars.
Rob de Bank, Ben Sowton and Dimitri from Paris will be amongst those also adding their weight to proceedings.
A sizable slice of the event’s profits will go to L’Association de Bienfaisance de Marrakech, a charity that supplies free housing, food, clothing and medical care to the orphans and homeless children of Marrakech.”
More info here.
I know some of you are rolling your eyes, thinking about the recent influx of Europeans coming on the low class airlines - but this event costs at least 100 Euros just to get in, so maybe the demographics will be a tad better.

Hi Felix,
sorry for my ignorance but what does mean a “tad”..Also I’ve been in touch with the organizer..been quite upset because of the lack of professionalism…announcing various band..which never shop up..
Anyway I will attend as Marrakesh is an amazing place and for me The Egg.. a fantastic band..
Cheers

Hi Serge - Sorry I missed your comment before, it got flagged as spam! A tad means “a small amount.”
It seems like many of the music festivals in Morocco end up having the same problem - lack of professionalism leads to sub-standard facilities/accommodations, organizers taking off with money, bands not showing up, etc…

Just a note as I am the producer/promotor. re Serge,s comments. the only band he is referring to who was listed several months ago as a performer was Theivery Corporation. Unfortunately their recording schedule made them pull out of this fantastic event. If serge or anyone else is worried about the credibility of this event just go to my website www.awesomeglobalevents.com and they will see the pedigree of the events I produce. Bad luck if you miss this amazing experience.
