Ouarzazate and Tourism
Interesting article from Le Matin about a meeting that recently took place in Ouarzazate:
La destination est pénalisée par l’insuffisance des dessertes aériennes
Well, I hardly think this needs to be pointed out. When we went back to Tinerhir, it was about 5 hours from Marrakech, going over the Tiz N Tischka every time, which is occasionally nausea inducing and sometimes downright terrifying. They have an airport in Ouarzazate, true, but the schedules/frequency aren’t very good yet.
De même, ils ont appelé à la mise à niveau urbaine de Ouarzazate afin de lui assurer son cachet architectural authentique.
Er, what authenticity, exactly? It’s got Taourirt, of course, and Ait Ben Haddou outside of town, but the rest of it is mostly left over from its French outpost days.
Anyway, the article is here - it has some interesting statistics for the “programme de développement régional touristique (PDRT).”
