Welcome Special Visitors from Herndon, Virginia!
2009 November 24
Seems like I’ve been getting regular visits from Herndon, VA. It shouldn’t be too hard for to guess who has some offices there - though their main headquarters is in McLEAN (Langley).
Oh, in other news:
In-Q-Tel, the investment arm of the CIA and the wider intelligence community, is putting cash into Visible Technologies, a software firm that specializes in monitoring social media. It’s part of a larger movement within the spy services to get better at using ”open source intelligence” — information that’s publicly available, but often hidden in the flood of TV shows, newspaper articles, blog posts, online videos and radio reports generated every day.
Article at Wired here.

Why do you suppose they’re interested?
You made me curious enough to check my own stats, but I have nothing out of the ordinary… most of my U.S. readers are in California, none from Herndon or McLean, Virginia!
Though of course if any spooks are reading this, you’re welcome to check out my blog, or friend me on Facebook.
No idea why they’d be interested - I figured it was just part of a general intel grab, if anything. Who knows, it could be just some regular dude from Herndon.
If they really wanted some insight on the current situation in Morocco, your blog would definitely be the better bet. [and that was a snark-free compliment!]
